Training - commercial photography

We can train you to take commercially viable still life images and stunning product photography.  This is the essential course if you are tasked with cataloguing products for an online store, or shooting products for magazine advertisements for example.  We will show you the correct way to shoot images that pop off the page and screen and sell a product.

Our commercial & advertising photographer has a lifetime of experience and produces stunning images for household name brands. You will have hands on practical experience of shooting your products, in a professional studio, with one of the best commercial photographers.  He will be showing you step by step the process of producing first class product photography, and even advise on what equipment you need to purchase to enable you to produce the same results back at your business.

Even if you have absolutely no existing studio experience you will end your day knowing how to light one or more subjects with both simple & complex lighting, where to place your subjects in relation to the background, which types of background will work, how to light the background, how to arrange your subjects, which type of film (or digital set-up) to use, how to measure light, how to arrange rim-lighting and backlighting, how to create both high and low-key effects.

We can cover:
- Composition.
- Lighting to show your products at thier best.
- Dealing with shiny products, and using specula highlights.
- Working with textured products.
- That extra something special that makes advertising and commercial pictures jump off the page!
- Framing an image for print, web and advertisements.
- Measuring exposure and then setting up the camera accordingly.
- Backgrounds – which ones to use, and how to light.
- Special effects.
- Multiple exposures.
- Multiple flashes.
- Specialised equipment.

When we are finished, you'll also get your own free copy of our Photolearn tutorials, for future information and support, you'll also take a disk with all your pictures on it, plus you'll take home any Polaroids you've shot, and you'll also have full and completely free ongoing telephone support.

Location.
This course can take place either on your premisis or ours, as you prefer. There may be extra costs involved in providing training at your own premises, depending on the distance from our studio. We make a modest charge of just 50p per mile for travel to your location and the travel time involved can form part of the training day or, where greater distances are involved, can be charged separately. Details of our studio location arehere.

Cameras.
Our digital camera produces high quality images which can be seen immediately on computer, and which you can take home with you on disk. We have everything we need for our high-end commercial work, but we fully appreciate that you are unlikely to have similar facilities and our courses are ideal for people who have a minimum of equipment and who don't want to waste money buying items that they can manage without. One spin-off from attending our Courses is that people who have been here are far less likely to waste money buying unsuitable equipment in the future.

What will you need to bring with you?
Most people bring along a camera, but this is optional because you're welcome to use our equipment. Although we provide detailed Course Notes it's a good idea to bring a notebook and a pen.
