Our workshops are very different to any others that are advertised, because they are 100% practical courses, designed to help people to dramatically improve their skills. Everything you learn will be relevant to your own needs, and you'll learn how to produce creative, technically sound, dynamic pictures.
Mostly, the people who come here are keen amateur photographers who understand the basics of photography and now want to learn about studio photography and lighting in general or who want to specialise in one particular aspect of it, and some of our students are professional photographers who want to increase the range of work that they can take on.
Our corporate clients are mainly businesses who have their own in-house photography studio and who need help to raise their standards so that they can produce professional quality results for their websites or brochures. Every Workshop is tailored to the exact needs of the individual, which means that we will cover exactly what you want to learn. Up to 4 people can attend on one booking, and there is no extra charge for the extra people.
If you want to bring your partner or friends with you then ideally you should all have a similar level of studio experience because your workshop will need to be tailored to suit the person who has the least experience.

Lighting.
We have a wide range of flash equipment including 3x100-Joule flasheads, 2x400-Joule flasheads, 1x800-Joule flashheads, a 1200-Joule flashhead, a 2400-Joule generator flash, a 6000-Joule Generator flash and a 4800-Joule generator flash. As well as the usual softboxes and brollies, we have wide-angle, standard and high-intensity reflectors, 3 different types of honeycombs, a snoot and 2 focussing spotlights. We also have a couple of HMI lights. Our wide range of specialised equipment is essential for us because our studio handles a wide spectrum of commercial work ranging from food to fashion, but only very basic equipment is needed for fashion photography.
By attending one of our studio courses you will be able to save far more than the cost of the course, because you will know exactly which items of equipment you need to buy and, equally importantly, which items to avoid.
Cameras.
Our digital cameras produce high quality images which can
be seen immediately on computer, and which you can take
home with you on disk. We have everything we need for our
high-end commercial work, but we fully appreciate that you
are unlikely to have similar facilities and our courses
are ideal for people who have a minimum of equipment and
who don't want to waste money buying items that they can
manage without. One spin-off from attending our courses
is that people who have been here are far less likely to
waste money buying unsuitable equipment in the future.
What will you need to bring with you?
Most people bring along a camera, but this is optional because you're welcome to use our equipment. Although we provide detailed course notes it's a good idea to bring a notebook and a pen.
